Subscription Cancellation Policy (California ARL Compliant)
Effective Date: April 30, 2026
PRINCIPLE. Cancellation must be at least as easy as signup. No phone calls required, no email-support-only, no retention gates that obstruct cancellation.
SIGN-UP PATH. Members subscribe via a single in-product button (Shopify Subscriptions / Recharge) that immediately activates the membership.
CANCELLATION PATH (MIRRORED). Logged-in member navigates: Account > Membership > Cancel Membership. A single confirmation screen ("Are you sure? Cancel Membership / Keep Membership") then cancels. Effective end of current billing period. No phone call, no email, no retention gate.
OPTIONAL RETENTION OFFER. A single, skippable offer (e.g., "Take 30% off next month") may appear ONCE before the final cancel button. Accepting is optional; declining requires no additional clicks beyond the final confirm.
AUTO-RENEWAL DISCLOSURE. Before first charge, the system displays clearly and conspicuously: (a) auto-renewal terms, (b) the amount and frequency of charges, (c) how to cancel, (d) the cancellation link. This is also sent in the post-purchase email.
RENEWAL NOTICES. For annual subscriptions, send a renewal reminder 15–45 days before the charge with cancellation instructions. For monthly, include cancellation link in every receipt.
FREE TRIAL CONVERSION. If a free trial or promotional period converts to paid, send a reminder at least three (3) business days before the first charge with a one-click cancel link.
RECORDS. Cancellation timestamps and confirmation emails are retained for seven (7) years.
