Crisis Response Protocol (For Advisors)
Effective Date: April 30, 2026 | Audience: All LePsychic Advisors | Mandatory reading before first session.
PURPOSE. Provide a clear, consistent protocol when a client discloses suicidal ideation, self-harm, intent to harm others, active abuse, or any imminent safety risk.
STEP 1 — STAY CALM, LISTEN, ACKNOWLEDGE. Thank the client for sharing. Do not attempt to diagnose or therapize. Use a scripted response such as: "I hear that you're going through something very heavy. I'm not a licensed mental health professional, and I want to make sure you're connected with someone who can help right now."
STEP 2 — PAUSE BILLING / PAUSE SESSION. Click the "Pause Session" button in the advisor console. Billing stops immediately. Session is not terminated.
STEP 3 — REFER TO 988. Provide the following verbatim: "Please contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988. They are free, confidential, and available 24/7. If you are in immediate danger, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room." For international clients, direct them to findahelpline.com.
STEP 4 — DO NOT CONTINUE THE READING. Readings are for entertainment purposes only and are not appropriate during an active mental health crisis. Politely end the session: "I care about your wellbeing too much to continue the reading right now. Please reach out to 988. You're welcome back to LePsychic any time."
STEP 5 — LOG THE INCIDENT. Immediately after ending the session, complete the Incident Report form in the advisor console: time, summary of disclosure, referral made, any follow-up concerns. Do not include unnecessary personal details.
STEP 6 — NOTIFY LEPSYCHIC OPS. Message the #crisis-response channel (or email ops@lepsychic.com) with the Incident Report ID. KJ/Ops will follow up with the client via email to confirm safety resources and offer a goodwill credit.
IMMINENT HARM TO OTHERS / MINOR IN DANGER. If a client discloses specific intent to harm another person or that a minor is in active danger, notify LePsychic Ops IMMEDIATELY during the session if possible. Ops will consult counsel regarding duty-to-warn obligations and, where legally required, contact appropriate authorities.
SELF-CARE FOR ADVISORS. After any crisis interaction, you may take up to 60 minutes off without impact to metrics. Contact advisor-support@lepsychic.com for debrief resources.
COMPLIANCE. Failure to follow this Protocol is a material breach of the Advisor Services Agreement and may result in suspension or termination.
