There are two transits most people encounter at least once: the Saturn return and a Jupiter expansion. Both are worth understanding before they arrive.
Saturn takes approximately 29 years to complete one orbit. When it returns to the position it occupied when you were born — typically between ages 27 and 30, and again at 57 to 60 — it tends to bring pressure. Structures built on uncertain ground start to crack. Relationships, careers, identities assembled in your twenties get pressure-tested.
This is not punishment. Saturn is the planet of accountability and mastery. What it tests, it is also asking you to build more solidly. The dissolution that can happen during a Saturn return is usually clearing the way for something more true.
Jupiter moves faster — approximately 12 years to complete its orbit. When it transits your sun sign or a significant part of your chart, it brings expansion: opportunities, visibility, growth. But Jupiter expands whatever is already present, including problems. A Jupiter transit through a difficult area of your chart can feel like too much of something you did not want more of.
Neither transit is good or bad in isolation. Context is everything — which is why understanding your chart matters, not just your sun sign.
If you are in your late 20s and things feel like they are falling apart, this may be exactly what is supposed to happen. If you are in an expansive period and it feels overwhelming, that is also normal.
The planets do not control your choices. But they do shape the terrain you are walking through. Knowing the terrain helps.
Knowing the terrain does not mean you have to walk it alone. Sometimes the most useful thing is someone who can read the map with you.
