On Trusting Something You Cannot Prove

On Trusting Something You Cannot Prove

We live in a culture that has made proof the gold standard of truth. If you cannot demonstrate it, document it, replicate it in a controlled setting, it does not count.

And yet almost everyone has had at least one experience they cannot fully explain. A knowing that preceded the event. A presence felt in an empty room. A dream that arrived before the thing it described.

The Limits of the Skeptical Response

The skeptical response is to attribute these to coincidence, pattern-matching, or selective memory. That response deserves respect, the brain does pattern-match, coincidences do happen, memory is unreliable.

But that response does not fully account for all of it.

Holding Two Things at Once

Trusting something you cannot prove does not mean abandoning discernment. It means holding two things at once: the reasonable mind that asks questions, and the sensing self that notices when something is real beyond what can be measured.

The people who benefit most from spiritual guidance tend to be neither true believers nor committed skeptics. They are the ones who can stay curious. Who can receive something from a reading and let it sit without needing to either dismiss it immediately or treat it as prophecy.

Curiosity without surrender. Openness without abandon.

The Question Worth Asking

That is the posture that makes this kind of work actually work.

If you have been dismissing something you sense because you cannot prove it, it may be worth asking: what would it cost you to take it seriously, just for a moment?

This tension between knowing and proving is closely related to the difference between intuition and anxiety. And if you are new to the idea of seeking guidance, understanding what a tarot reading actually is may help ground your expectations.

A reading does not just validate what you already know. It shows you the part you could not see.
